Shopify Website Development in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai

Crystal Design sets up Shopify stores for businesses in Navi Mumbai, Mumbai and Thane, ready to take UPI, card and cash-on-delivery orders with GST and courier shipping configured. This page explains what Shopify website development in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai involves with us, what the store costs you to run, and when another platform suits you better.

Shopify is a hosted platform: you pay Shopify a subscription and it runs the servers, security updates and checkout. We handle the work around it, from theme and catalogue to Indian payments, GST, shipping and staff training.

We set the store up on your business email and keep the domain in your name, so you own both and nothing has to be handed back if you change developers later. If you are nearby, you can review the store with us at our Kopar Khairane office before launch.

What a Shopify Store Build Includes

Our fee depends on the number of products, how far the theme is customised and which apps you need; Shopify bills you directly for its plan, any paid theme and app subscriptions. For how we scope website projects, see our website packages; a Shopify build is quoted against your actual product list. A typical build covers:

  • Shopify account on your business email, with the plan chosen for your order volume and features
  • Theme selection and customisation for home, collection, product and cart pages
  • Products, variants and collections, with photos, SKUs, weights and HSN codes
  • An Indian payment gateway plus cash on delivery, tested with real transactions
  • GST tax settings and a GST invoicing app
  • Shipping zones, rates and a courier integration
  • Domain connection, branded order emails and a WhatsApp chat button
  • Contact, refund, shipping, privacy and terms pages, which payment gateways check before approval
  • On-page SEO basics and Search Console submission, plus redirects if you are moving from an old site
  • Staff training and a written handover note

Choosing a Shopify Theme and Structuring Your Catalogue

We start from a theme in the Shopify Theme Store: one of Shopify's free themes, or a paid theme when you need a layout or feature the free ones lack. Themes bought outside the Theme Store are not reviewed by Shopify and do not receive updates through your admin, so we generally avoid them.

The right theme depends on your catalogue. A store with ten products needs detailed, persuasive product pages; a store with hundreds of SKUs needs fast filtering and clear navigation.

Most layout changes are made in Shopify's theme editor, so your staff can adjust them later. Where the editor falls short, we write custom Liquid sections and log every code change, because code edits are not carried over automatically when you move to a newer version of the theme. Catalogue structure matters as much as design:

  • Variants: one product per design, with size, colour or weight as variants. Shopify caps the options and variants a single product can have, so products with many combinations, common in apparel and jewellery, are planned before upload.
  • Collections: manual for curated edits such as festive gifting, automated (rule-based) for groups that should update themselves, such as all products tagged cotton.
  • Metafields: structured fields for fabric, purity, dimensions or material, which can also be used as storefront filters.
  • Inventory locations: separate stock counts for, say, a shop in Vashi and a warehouse in Bhiwandi, so you can see what is available where and fulfil each order from the right place.

Payment Gateways That Work With Shopify in India

Shopify Payments, Shopify's own processor, is not available to stores based in India, so Indian stores that take online payments connect a third-party gateway. Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree and CCAvenue offer Shopify integrations that accept UPI, cards, net banking and wallets. We check the current options in your Shopify admin before recommending one, because the list and the terms change.

Two costs are often missed: the gateway's fee on each transaction, and any fee Shopify charges on orders paid through an outside gateway, which depends on your plan. Both belong in your margin calculation. Gateway KYC usually asks for PAN, bank account details, business proof such as a GST certificate, and a working website with contact and policy pages, so we start it early.

Cash on delivery is added as a manual payment method. When a COD parcel is refused, you usually pay the courier for both the forward and the return journey, so we can add an app that hides COD for chosen pincodes or order values, plus WhatsApp order confirmation if your volume justifies it.

GST and Shipping Settings for Indian Shopify Stores

In Shopify's tax settings we set up GST collection for India and your standard rate. Products in a different GST slab need tax overrides, which Shopify applies through collections kept out of your storefront menu. Delivery charges billed to the customer are generally taxable too, so we check whether tax should apply to shipping.

Shopify's order confirmation is not a GST tax invoice. We install a GST invoicing app that shows your GSTIN, HSN codes and the correct CGST and SGST or IGST split. We also agree whether displayed prices include GST, since Indian shoppers expect the price they see to be the price they pay. Your CA should confirm the rates before launch.

For shipping, we set zones and rates, for example local delivery within Navi Mumbai, a Maharashtra rate and a rest-of-India rate, with free shipping above a cart value you choose. Shipping aggregators and couriers such as Shiprocket and Delhivery integrate with Shopify to pull in orders, create labels and send tracking. We record accurate weights and box sizes, because couriers usually bill on the higher of actual and volumetric weight.

Shopify Apps, Site Speed and SEO Basics

Most apps add a monthly fee and extra code to your storefront, and some can leave code behind after you uninstall them. We first check whether the theme already does the job. Most new stores need only a few: GST invoicing, shipping, product reviews and, where it fits, WhatsApp order updates.

Shopify handles the technical base: free SSL, an automatically generated sitemap.xml and, in standard themes, canonical tags for products that sit in several collections. The rest is on-page work: unique titles and meta descriptions for collections and key products, clean URL handles, image alt text, short collection descriptions, and rewriting supplier copy that appears word for word on other stores.

Speed mostly comes down to image sizes, the number of apps, and heavy sliders or autoplay videos. We test on a mid-range Android phone over mobile data, not a desktop on office Wi-Fi. Ranking for competitive product searches takes ongoing work after launch, which is what our e-commerce SEO service covers.

Migrating to Shopify From WooCommerce or Another Platform

Migration is about protecting products, customers, order history and the search visibility your old URLs have built. If your WooCommerce store works and only needs improvement, staying may be the better decision, and we handle WordPress website development too. When moving is right, the checklist is:

  • Export products, variants, images and customers to CSV, import them, then check a sample by hand
  • Map every old URL to its new address. Shopify uses fixed paths such as /products/ and /collections/, so most URLs change and each changed URL needs a 301 redirect
  • Bring across order history with a migration app where possible, or archive it
  • Customer passwords cannot be moved. Depending on the customer account type, shoppers either sign in with a one-time email code or are invited to set a new password
  • Move reviews, blog posts and policy pages
  • Place test orders, switch the domain at a low-traffic hour and submit the new sitemap in Google Search Console

Our Shopify Development Process, Handover and Training

Training is hands-on with the people who will run the store: adding products, processing and dispatching orders, refunds, discount codes and basic reports. Your handover note lists every login, each app with its monthly cost, and any custom code.

After launch we can look after theme updates and changes on a maintenance plan, or step back completely. The project itself runs in seven steps:

  • Requirement call or a meeting at our Kopar Khairane office: products, sales channels, delivery reach and who will manage the store
  • Catalogue sheet: you fill our spreadsheet template with products, variants, prices, weights and HSN codes
  • Plan and theme choice, with home and product page designs for your approval
  • Build: theme customisation, catalogue upload, payments, GST and shipping
  • Testing: real orders by UPI, card and COD, plus a cancellation, a refund and a return
  • Launch: domain connection, Search Console and analytics
  • Training and handover

When Shopify Is the Right Choice, and When It Is Not

Shopify suits D2C brands, retailers adding an online channel and growing stores that want dependable hosting and checkout without an in-house developer, for example a clothing label or packaged-food brand shipping across India from Navi Mumbai.

If one of the situations below describes you, a custom e-commerce website usually fits better, and if the store must work closely with your own CRM or ERP software, we can build both on the same data. If you are unsure, contact us with your product list and expected monthly orders and we will tell you plainly which route makes sense. Shopify is usually the wrong choice when:

  • You sell mainly B2B, with customer-specific price lists, credit terms and bulk quotations, which on Shopify usually means a higher plan or extra apps
  • Your products need a configurator or quotation workflow, such as made-to-measure furniture or industrial parts
  • Monthly plan, app and transaction fees would outweigh the online sales you realistically expect
  • You want a multi-vendor marketplace where sellers manage their own listings
Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Shopify Payments is not available to stores based in India, so you connect a third-party gateway. Razorpay, PayU, Cashfree and CCAvenue offer Shopify integrations covering UPI, cards, net banking and wallets. Compare their fees and settlement times, and check whether your Shopify plan adds its own fee on orders paid through an outside gateway.

No. Shopify's order confirmation is not a GST tax invoice, so we install a GST invoicing app that shows your GSTIN, HSN codes and the correct CGST and SGST or IGST split. We also set your rates and product overrides in Shopify's tax settings, and your CA should confirm those rates before launch.

Yes. Cash on delivery is added as a manual payment method, and courier integrations mark COD orders for cash collection. Many stores use an app to limit COD by pincode or order value, or confirm COD orders on WhatsApp before dispatch, to reduce refused parcels.

Expect the Shopify plan subscription, any paid theme, monthly app fees, the payment gateway's fee on each transaction, any Shopify fee on outside-gateway orders, and yearly domain renewal. Shopify bills its plan, themes and apps to you directly. Our build fee is quoted separately once we have seen your product list.

You do. We set the store up on your business email, keep the domain in your name and work through collaborator or staff access. At handover you get a note listing every login, each app and its monthly cost, and any custom code.

Some movement is normal after any migration, and no one can guarantee rankings. The biggest avoidable loss comes from missing redirects. Because Shopify's URL paths differ from WooCommerce's, we map every old product, category and page URL to its new address with a 301 redirect and submit the new sitemap in Google Search Console.

It depends mostly on how ready your product data and photos are, and how quickly the payment gateway completes your KYC. A small catalogue with ready photos moves much faster than hundreds of products that still need descriptions. We share a timeline once we have seen your catalogue sheet.
